Berserk Watch Order: Where to Start

One masterpiece arc, adapted three ways — two of them well. Here's the spoiler-free order — what to watch, what to skip, and where each piece fits.

Start with the 1997 series (25 eps)

The classic Golden Age adaptation. Dated animation, perfect tone.

Or: the Golden Age movie trilogy

The 2012–13 films cover the same arc faster; the Memorial Edition TV cut is the most complete version.

Approach the 2016–17 series with caution

It adapts what comes after, but the CG is infamous. Only if you must continue in animation.

The real continuation is the manga

After the Golden Age, most fans jump to the manga from the Conviction arc onward. It's worth it.

💡 Either Golden Age version works as the entry: 1997 for tone, the trilogy/Memorial Edition for completeness.
